The Simple Woman's Daybook~ 1.19.09

FOR TODAY~ January 19, 2009...
Outside my window...the sun is just peeking up over the trees. Looks like it's going to be a beautiful day! I am thinking...how much I enjoyed the weekend. Mickey had several friends over to celebrate his birthday on Saturday, and Sunday's church services left me with a smile on my face and encouragement to face the week ahead. I am thankful for...President and Mrs. George W. Bush. I appreciate the unfathomable sacrifices they have made over the last 8 years, and I am going to miss them. From the kitchen...English breakfast tea, corn flakes, and grapefruit. I am wearing...my favorite blue p.j.'s and a pair of leopard print slippers. I am creating...a shopping list. I am reading...in my Bible: Exodus; just for fun: The Longing by Beverly Lewis. I didn't have much reading time last week, so hopefully I'll get this one finished in the next day or two. I am hoping...that my husband has a happy day. ;) I am hearing...an old gospel song by the Blackwood Brothers. Around the house...dusting downstairs and tidying the laundry room. One of my favorite things...a crackling fire on a cold night. A few plans for the rest of the week...a trip to the health food store and the library; piano lessons; a parent-teacher meeting at school; a mailout for a big day at our church. Here is picture thought I am sharing...Finally using our fireplace. :)

That fireplace sure looks inviting!
The Bev Lewis book is one I have been wanting to read. Is that one part of a series? Our town library has several of her books and I have a request in for that one. But if it is part of a series, I want to start at the beginning. Is it?

It's been a lonnnnggggg time since I've heard mention of the "Blackwood Brothers". My mom, who died almost 5 years ago, loved to hear them. Thanks for the memory! :)

Your fireplaces looks so warm and cozy! Have a great day!

Hello,
Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. It is nice to meet new friends this way.... especially those with 4 kids and a Pastor's wife. How old are you little ones? Where do you live in FL? Well, I enjoyed reading a little about your family on the blog, and will visit again.

I don't remember Florida being as cold as it was last week, so I'm sure the fireplace is wonderful! We've been keeping ours going non-stop all week-end with temps around 9 degrees.
I used to keep a book going all the time, but strangely, I've not read in 3-4 months. I'll have to look for the one you're reading.
Stay warm!

That fire sure looks wonderful. I wish we could light one in our fireplace...too much creosote buildup though. I need to call the sweep!!

Blessings,
Mary

Well it has certainly been chilly enough for that fireplace. I wish we had one. It is one of my favorite things too.

Enjoy it tonight! It is supposed to be cold again.
