Fridays Fave Five ~ 8.23.13

Another week has flown right by, and I'm linking up with Susanne to share a few blessings.

1. The kids had a fabulous first week back at school. I haven't heard the first complaint about teachers or homework...yet. I think their favorite part, aside from being with their friends every day, was the fact that they didn't have any tests. That will change next week.

2. After helping out in the school office for the last few weeks, it was so nice to spend more time at home during the day once again. It felt good to get some cleaning done.

3. Our church family experienced some sadness this week. A young man in our church, just thirty-one years old and in seemingly good health, passed away suddenly from a heart attack. The memorial service was a precious time for his family and friends to remember him and his desire to live for Christ. What a blessing for his family, in the midst of tragedy, to have the assurance that their son and brother is in heaven because he trusted in the finished work of Jesus Christ for his soul's salvation.

4. It's been hot and humid here this week, so I'm thankful that we've had rain just about every afternoon to bring the teensiest bit of relief. I'm ready for fall and temps to drop down into the 80's.

5. I had the house to myself one evening and treated myself to takeout from my favorite Chinese restaurant. Definitely not the healthiest meal, but sometimes you just need some comfort food.

My heart was deeply touched by the loss of the young man in your church! I'm praying for his family and friends. Our son-in-law passed away of a sudden heart attack when he was thirty-four.

I love that photo of your kids wearing their uniforms. Our youngest had uniforms in high school and preferred them.
I'm so sorry to hear of the suddenness of that young man's passing. What makes it bearable is knowing he is with Christ.
MMmmm, I'd love that Chinese take out too ;)

I'm so sorry to hear of the young man's passing. My brother passed away suddenly at age 43. It's such a shock. I will pray for his family, too.
Sure wish I could just run up to McD's for a cheeseburger these days. Glad you got to enjoy take out!

We had Chinese food this week too, it's my hubby's choice for takeout comfort food. I have this week off work too and I'm looking forward to some cleaning though don't know how much will actually get done with having to help my girl pack for her move to bible school. So sorry for the loss in your your congregation of a wonderful young man.

Inquiring minds need to know - WHICH Chinese restaurant is your fave???? Hubby and I try to follow this one family around town (they keep switching from restaurant to restaurant), but we have lost track of them. :( Doug has even asked at a couple of different places, but they look at him like he has two heads. One cook even told him that he must think all Chinese people look alike because nobody new had been in that restaurant for a long time!!! O_o

So glad you had a good week. The passing of the young man was so difficult, but oh my goodness, the grace of God was so real in that service, wasn't it?!! Precious times with God's people.
