Friday's Fave Five~ 11.16.12

Happy Friday! Our family is up early getting ready for a fun-filled day trip, but I'm going to make you wait to find out where we're going. Let's just say that we'll probably be standing in long lines a good part of the day.

Here are five of my faves from this week:

1. Bible preaching. Several great messages were preached during our church's fall Bible conference Sunday through Wednesday. I'm still pondering thoughts from a couple in particular. You know, we really waste so much time on the trivial things in life. It was good for me to sit in church four nights in a row and meditate on God's word.

2. Saving money. Thanks to pleasant temperatures so far this month, I think we've only had to run the a/c one day. That makes a HUGE difference in our electric bill.

3. Smart kiddos. All four of the kids made the 1st quarter Honor Roll at school. The girls all made straight A's, and Case made all A's & B's. They have all worked hard, and I haven't had to hound them.

4. Clean carpet. We've lived in our house for four years, and we've never had the carpets steam cleaned. The carpet is very light colored, so you can imagine what it looks like with six people and a dog tracking all over it. After doing a ton of research and waiting until I had a 30% off coupon, I purchased heavy duty carpet cleaner. After cleaning a couple of the worst areas, the carpet looks brand new. Seriously. The doggie stains are completely gone. Now I'm smiling when I look at the floor. The carpet cleaner was a big investment, but a small one compared to installing new carpet.

5. Early morning views. I took this picture when I walked outside to get the newspaper. I just stood there for a few minutes admiring the Creator's creation.

I love being up early in the morning. There is nothing like a spectacular sunrise to start the day out right.

You make me laugh because you have the A/C running while here it's cold and we are afraid of the heating bill !

Being in meetings five nights a week is always a little daunting at first, but almost always so worth it and such a blessing.

I do love the electric bills those months when we haven't had to run either the AC or heat much.

Congrats to your kids in their accomplishments!

We were amazed when we had our carpets cleaned, too -- it got up some spots I didn't think it would.

Lovely view at the end -- love those moments of recognizing the Creator's handiwork and praising Him for it.

Well, since you live in Florida I"m gonna guess that you are at the place I REFUSE To go to: Disney World. I'm not a fan. BUT...my hubby designed and installed the computer system that runs the Disney Magic Cruise ship when he worked on it in Italy back in 1998 :) I hope you have had a good day standing in line :) And yay for the children making the honor roll!!! that's great! I too like reflecting on good sermons and I've done a bit of that my self this week. Enjoy your weekend

I had to think - now where does you live running the AC in Nov?? :) we have the woodstove going!

I checked out your Christmas picture from last year - you have a lovely family - congrats on their great school graces! That's a good feeling.

Nothing like some good Bible teaching to meditate on - glad you had the opportunity to attend.

Blessings

Congrats to your kids and all their hard work!

We invested in a heavy duty carpet cleaner too and have never regretted it. What a difference from the cheaper ones.

Love your picture of the moon through the trees.

Thanks for stopping by, Kathie. We live in central Florida, so you never know when that a/c will be running! :) I can imagine how nice it must feel to snuggle up in front of the wood stove.

Your guess was the correct one. The lines weren't horrible after all. :)

Love your picture of the moon! It's amazing what stopping for even a small amount of time to revel in the wonder of it all can do for your well-being! <#
