Make it a Happy New Year

Dear Master, for this coming year Just one request I bring: I do not pray for happiness, Or any earthly thing- I do not ask to understand The way Thou leadest me, But this I ask: Teach me to do The thing that pleaseth Thee. I want to know Thy guiding voice, To wak with Thee each day. Dear Master, make me swift to hear And ready to obey. And thus the year I now begin A happy year will be- If I am seeking just to do The thing that pleaseth Thee. ~~~oOo~~~
This poem was posted on the back of our church bulletin this past Sunday, and I thought it was just perfect for today. A new year is a time for new beginnings, for making decisions and setting goals. Throughout the Bible there are examples of changes made on the first day of the first month of the year, so I don't think there is anything wrong with making some resolutions as long as they are made as a result of prayer and according to God's will. Above all else in 2009, it is my desire to draw closer to the Lord and to please Him. I believe that there will be many positive changes in my life in the coming year as a result of this desire. image credit

Happy New Year.
I believe in setting some goals for my self (spiritual goals). My desire this new year is to trust Him even more for the future and learn to LEAVE my worries or anxious thoughts in His Hands!

What a perfect prayer for the New Year. I almost shared it on my blog today. Thank you for your friendship through the last year and for your kind words of comfort and support to our family these last days. Because HE lives, we can face tomorrow - and each tomorrow He gives us. Happy New Year to you and your family. ~Adrienne~

My PM was about my blog~No one was able to get my feeds so I changed my URL to: http://enjoyingthesimplethingsoflife.blogspot.com/

I love that poem!! And I agree with you- this year I want to grow deeper in my relationship with the Lord. Not just in knowledge, although that is wonderful, but also in closeness. I want to die to myself daily and live for Him.

Thank you for this encouraging post!

His,
Mrs. U
