In the kitchen with Lil' Nut

Hi, everybody! My mommy is typing for me because I don't know how to do it yet. I know my ABC's, but I don't know how to put them all together yet. Today I helped my mommy in the kitchen. Wanna see what we made? Mommy wanted to do some baking because it was raining outside. She'll use any excuse to make something sweet. She decided we would make apple crisp. That yellow thing up in the picture is a lemon off one of our trees. We squeezed some juice from it to use when we baked. Mommy said you're supposed to use sour apples when you make an apple crisp, but she just used Royal Gala since that's what we had. Mommy let me use a funny looking thing to mix with, and then I used a great big spoon to stir stuff together in a bowl. I licked the spoon when I was done. Mommy wouldn't let me stir with that spoon again because she said it had germs on it. I do not have germs! She put the baking dish in the oven because that's too dangerous for me to do. After hours and hours the timer finally beeped. I wanted to taste the apple crisp right away, but Mommy wouldn't let me. She said it had to cool off first. Here's what it looked like. After a little bit Mommy put some in a bowl and put a scoop of ice cream on top. She said I could have it if I promised to eat all my lunch later since it was only ten o'clock in the morning. Mommy never lets me eat dessert before lunch!!! What's going on???? Mommy must be sick or something. Mommy ate some, too, but hers was in a great big bowl. I guess she gets a bunch 'cause she's the mommy. Here I am eating my yummy apple crisp and ice cream. Cooking is a lot of fun, but eating is even better. Just wait 'till my brother and sisters get home and see what I've been up to! Thank you for joining me in the kitchen! Mommy said to tell you to have a good weekend. She'll be back on Monday.

Wow, Lil' Nut! You did a great job on that apple crisp!

I think my dog Newton would like a bite of your dessert. Did you share any with your doggy?

I'm glad you found something fun to do while it was raining.

Have a happy Friday,
Mrs. Alesha

Oh, please tell your mommy I said you did a great job in the kitchen. I wish I lived close enough to taste your apple crisp!

Would you also tell your mommy how much I appreciate her visits to my blog and for her sweet comments? I have tried to reply by email and they don't seem to go through. I do want her to know that I'm not ignoring her visits.

Be sure to share more of your kitchen treats with us.

Bye bye,
~Adrienne~

Yummy.....that looks great. Good job, Lil Nut!
We'll be baking apple crisp as soon as it begins to feel like autumn around here. our weather is acting weird today. Lots of wind (probably the effects of those storms down near you) and it was 87 when I left work at 11: 30 this a.m.! Too humid and hot for me....we're praying for temps in the low 70's next week! enjoy your weekend

That looks delicious, Lil' Nut! I think I'm going to have to pick up some apples and make something for my family, too... my little boy isn't old enough to help in the kitchen yet, but I hope he'll be a good helper just as you are for your mommy! :o)

Wow! Does that ever look so good. Little Nut did such a great job.

Helping my mom in the kitchen was one of the chief reasons I developed a love of cooking (ahem... and eating:) It's so nice you spend time together like that.

Take Care,

Trixie

Oh, I forgot to say this:

remember when you were little and it really did take at least an hour or two for a batch of cookies to come out of the oven: LOL Seriously, I thought I would shrivel up and die before those goodies were done.

Now, when I'm baking I am always surprised to hear the timer beeping they are done!

I have to agree that your apple crisp looks delicious, Lil' Nut! Thank you for sharing your special baking time with us. I can tell that you enjoyed it.
Have Mom show you how to make an apple pie next. You are already most of the way there! (or have you already done that?):)
