Oprah's New Age Cult

I John 4:1-6 1) Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2) Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3) And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4) Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5) They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6) We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
I watched the following video today (HT to Amy). I sat staring at the computer screen with my mouth wide open. I am saddened to think of the millions of women, even born-again Christians, who are glued to their televisions each day hanging on Oprah's every word. Some may argue that Oprah has done so many wonderful things for people around the world. While that may be true, right now she is pointing people around the world to hell. Wake up, Ladies! Get your answers to life's questions from the Bible, not from the gospel according to Ms. Winfrey!! There is only one way to heaven.
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6
Salvation requires belief.
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:9 (my emphasis)
Anyone can receive the gift of salvation.
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13 (my emphasis)

This really is scary! And, as you said, there are so many women who really believe in anything that Oprah endorses. I'm so glad that I was raised in a strong Christian home and a solid IFB church that made a concerted effort to teach good Bible doctrine! If our pastor hadn't done that, I'm afraid of where I might be today... maybe I'd even be one of the many who are following this cult. :(

My husband forwarded this video to me yesterday, and it reinforced my long held opinion that O is the most dangerous woman in the country. Truly. She knows the truth. She was raised in the Baptist church. She has heard the gospel loud and clear more than once. She is the most blatant example of one who has denied Jesus. Amazing!

And like you said the worst part of it is that she is leading others in the same way. She knows enough to have the appearance of a believer on the surface, but is really an amazing counterfeit.

Which is the definition of Satan himself.

Great verses to go along with all of this by the way. Well done!!

Wow! I have watched Oprah depending on the content of her show. When she has been talking about this issue I wasn't really sure what it was all about. It wasn't something that really held my interest and between taking care of a little and making dinner and such it became background noise. Thanks for opening my eyes to what is going one.

Wow! It's so scary the huge influence Oprah has on millions of people all over the country. I feel so many people are afraid to tell the "truth." The truth is, if you don't believe Jesus is Lord and Savior. You will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The road to Heaven is narrow. Only few will enter. Well, with Oprah's following, that passage will hold very true. Also, God is a Jealous God. He's not Jealous, in the sense of what we understand of Jealous. So much of the bible is taken out of context. I know some understanding can be lost through different translations. That's way it's so important that we study the bible if we have questions research. Dive into the word.

I watched this on another blog and immediately forwarded it to my pastor. He often uses video clips to drive home a point and I knew he would want to see this if he hadn't already done so. Thank you for sharing it here. It nearly made my blood boil as I watched it - we need to pray like never before and get the word out about the truth. It's the truth that sets us free!

Thanks for posting this. I saw the video from an email by a friend. So sad and disheartening.
ALthough I am glad Oprah uses her wealth to help the poor, she is so blinded by her new age cult stuff.
I don't watch her show as I don't watch daytime tv....just too busy that time of day with overseeing homework, getting dinner, etc but the few I have seen in passing have always seemed fine...very sad that she is so blinded by Satan...we need to pray for her and any "followers"

Wow! I can say the same as you, my mouth was wide open while watching the video. When she got to the part about God being jealous and then its about feeling not believing I have to admit I said "O, my soul that's a bunch of hogwash!" Thanks for passing the news along, and most of all the Scripture! I really appreciate it!

I knew she was this way. I sometimes watch her show if she has something about health, or some such thing like that.

One thing that striked me as odd was her definition of love didn't include the concept of jealosy. I love my husband, and if he cheated on me I would love him and be jealous. And that one thought, took her down the wrong path. :(

What is also interesting to me is she said she was "raised" in a Baptist church. Many churches including baptist are not preaching the gospel anymore. They are preaching their opinions. Maybe that "chrismatic" pastor didn't teach what jealousy was. And in her mind jealousy was actually covetness.

And many churches also preach a *feeling* type of God. They don't point out Jesus as the only way.

Sad Sad Sad. :(

I was shocked at her blatantness. This is surely a great tool Satan is using to lead folks to hell. Wow how would you like to be responsible for leading a million people to hell?

Wouldn't want to be Oprah, sadly she's headed to hell herself, how sad too since she had heard the Gospel as a younger lady and has rejected the ONE and ONLY way to Heaven.

You know, I never really watched her show, she irritates me, but I used to read her magazine now and again (borrowed from the library). But I stopped even doing that, because it is chock-full of nothing but "we are our own gods, we are in charge of our own destinys" kind of stuff. It is very scary to think of how influential she is.
