Birthday and Busy

Thank you so much for all of the sweet birthday wishes sent my way! It's nice to know that when a girl begs for comments, her bloggy friends come through.:)

I had a wonderful birthday. One of the dear ladies in our church blessed me with a gift card to Cracker Barrel, so our family started the day with a hearty breakfast. Cracker Barrel pancakes are out of this world! You don't even have to butter them, and they still melt in your mouth. And those crispy edges---mmmmm.

After breakfast my hubby took me shopping about an hour away. We didn't stay too long because Bookworm had a piano lesson in the afternoon, but it was still fun to have an outing with the whole family.

Later in the day I went to a nail salon for a brow wax and a manicure. I haven't had a manicure in over a year, and it felt wonderful to be pampered for a little while.

I received some fantastic birthday gifts, but I haven't had time to post pictures yet. Today I'm going to drive an hour away to visit my hair stylist. With the price of gas these days ($3.19/gal. where we live) it is painful to make the 100 mile round trip, but my precious locks are worth it. I don't trust just anyone with my hair. The first couple of years we lived in Georgia I would wait to get my hair done until we made trips back home to Florida, but finally after 2 1/2 years I've found a Georgia girl who does my hair just the way I like it. ;) At least now I only have to drive 50 miles instead of 450! I'm hoping to be able to have lunch with my good friend who lives in the town where I get my hair done. There's a huge outlet mall there, too, but I'm not sure if I'll have time to spend the birthday money that's burning a whole in my pocket.

Tomorrow I'll be taking a small group of ladies from our church to a ladies' conference at a church near Atlanta. Breakfast and lunch will be catered, and I always look forward to gleaning from the speakers. It will be a long day, but a good one.

My sweet hubby has had to watch the kids a lot for me this week, and he'll have the whole day with them tomorrow. They'll go with him on visitation and entertain themselves while he studies. Saturday is always a busy day for my preacher-husband, and I really appreciate his willingness to take care of the kids without any complaint. He's a wonderful daddy, and I know when our kids are grown they will look back and appreciate the quality time he spent with them when they were little. They won't feel like they took a back seat to the ministry.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I leave you with the hope that spring really is on the way. My pear trees have bloomed!

Happy Belated Birthday...I am sorry I didn't get a chance to "visit" yesterday. Sounds like you had a marvelous day.
I love what you wrote about your husband and the ministry and how your children do things with him. We just had a sermon recently about that very topic: that ministry should not come before family. My husband sometimes is gone alot with the junior high teens that he leads (like this weekend!) but my girls always get to spend quality time with him during the evenings when he is not doing ministry. He has had to learn to prioritize...our new church has helped tremendously with that. They believe in keeping things balanced so we don't get burned out in ministry. I praise the Lord for wise leaders!

Oh, I'm so glad your birthday went well, and that all of us bloggy friends were able to help make your day just a teensy-bit brighter! :)

Gas just went up to $3.19 around here, too. *sigh*

I guess I can't complain too much, though. Our pastor's oldest daughter works part-time in a local salon, so I don't have to drive very far to get my haircut! I can't believe you would drive to FL... well, take that back. I know how it is when you find a good stylist. I definitely believe in waiting it out to have someone do it right! I had to learn that lesson the hard way!!! :S
