Fun Family Field Trips

We've been blessed to have Mr. C's parents visiting with us for the last few days. They've been on the final leg of their 50th wedding anniversary trip. We canceled school while they were here but still managed to fit in a little history and zoology with the help of a couple of field trips.

Grandpa is a big classic car fan, so Saturday we all went to a car show that was held in nearby town. It was nice to walk the streets in this usually sleepy little town and watch Grandpa drool over the cars of yesteryear.

Yesterday we wanted to take advantage of the gorgeous weather and do something outdoors. We ended up going to the Atl*nta Z*o. Believe it or not, this was my first visit ever to a zoo! Here are a few pictures from our day.

The kids take a break for a quick pose. Lil' Nut looked too cool in Grandpa's shades.

Lil' Nut wanted to spend the whole day petting the sheep.

After our fun time at the zoo, we went to a really nice mall in Atlanta and had dinner at The Cheesec*ake Fact*ry. I am one spoiled girl. :)

After their grandparents left this morning to head home to Florida, the kids were a little bit disappointed when I announced that we would still be having school today. They were begging to play outside in the cool morning air. I compromised, and we started school a little bit later than usual. I'm learning to relax when it comes to our schedule. There are days we can set the schedule aside and let things just flow naturally.

Sassy Update: Sassy's surgeries were last Tuesday. By Saturday it appeared that she was coming down with an infection. The vet ordered her an antibiotic, and she seems to be doing better each day. She's also adjusted to the newspaper in her litter box. :) Hopefully she'll be jumping around again in a few more days.

I'm so glad ya'll got to spend some time with the grandparents! I can't wait to hear the stories about their big trip! :-)

From what I hear, there will be stories to hear about their arrival at home, too! Oops! I hope I didn't say too much! LOL!

Glad your kitty is doing better. I'm so sorry she had an infection. That must have been the reason for the odd behavior. I'm glad you were able to figure it out.

I have heard that the Atlanta zoo is a great one to visit. I love the picture of little nut petting the sheep.

It must of been nice to have your inlaws visit you. They sure did have a nice long vacation. :)

What happy days. I love the picture of the little one petting the sheep. Little ones sure do love the animals, don't they?

I can't believe this was your first visit to a zoo...UNBELIEVEABLE!!! (But then I am very old and have never learned to spell, ahhhh, oh well. It does pay to be flexible and the cooler weather is a joy, a refreshment, and hopefully stimuated their minds!

Looks like you all had a great day of "school" I know my kids would rather learn by going on a field trip than to sit in the house learning. (I think I may have been the same way ;) )

Glad you were able to spend some time with your in-laws, and a nice dinner at the cheesecake factory.

Praying your kitty starts feeling better.

Sounds like a lovely time with grandma and grandpa. We need tiems like that. They make lovely memories for the kids later.

Glad sassy is better. Bet you can't wait until she's running around like new!

What a lovely time you all had!! First time to a zoo? How did you manage to escape that all these years? :0)

It is hard getting back in a routine after grandparents have been in town!

Great photos of life long memories. yes, sometimes it serves us well to back off our rigid school schedules and let the day unfold as it may.

It looks like a wonderful time was had by all. I'm sure the children's grandparents were as blessed as y'all were. Glad to hear Sassy is on the road to recovery.

We have had some beautiful weather lately haven't we? I see though that the next couple of days are going to be in the upper 80s again.
