Yesterday I needed a quick, easy dessert to go with our Sunday dinner. I grabbed my MOMY'S cookbook and found this recipe for Cake Brownies. I served them warm with some vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
Cake Brownies
1 box chocolate cake mix (I used Devil's Food because that's what I had in my pantry.)
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs, beaten
1 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 bag chocolate chips
1 tsp. vanilla
Mix the first three ingredients until a crumbly mixture develops. Add the nuts. Press 1/2 of the mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish. Heat the condensed milk, chocolate chips, and vanilla over medium heat until melted, stirring constantly. Pour the chocolate mixture over the cake mixture. Top with the remaining 1/2 of the cake mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
