Keep Movin'!

We've had a gym membership for several months, but I haven't been since the middle of October----yikes!

I started back again a couple of days ago. My goal is to go the the gym at least 3 days a week.

I know that running is great for improving cardio health, but 30 minutes on a treadmill/elliptical machine seems like 4-ever!!

Here's what works for me and protects my mind and ears from the trashy music at the gym. I use a walkman and tune it to one of the TVs at the gym. Time just seems to fly by while I'm watching Paula Deen whip up some biscuits and gravy, which leads me to this question: Why do people watch cooking shows at the gym while they are exercising to lose weight and stay fit?

And why do they serve cookies and coffee in the lobby too? This is what I am going to sit down and write about on my blog when I get a few minutes today!

Ha! Ha! I agree!! I have an MP3 player and I put sermons or other talks on it that last about the length of time I plan to stay on the treadmill. It's great because it takes my mind off the fact I'm sweating and panting, and when the sermon is over, it's time to stop! Works great!

We don't have an MP3 player, but that would be wonderful to be able to listen to sermons while exercising, although I might just shout out an "AMEN!" in the middle of my workout.:)

I just joined Slender Lady at the end of December. There are no TVs and it has great (not trashy) music. I love the atmosphere there, not to mention it is for ladies only! I am getting an IPod for my birthday in a couple of weeks and can't wait to take it with me for afternoon walks. Thanks for sharing!

Great tip at the gym! When my daughter and I used to go and workout we said the same thing! Too funny! The armband MP-3 players are great too.

LOL, that is so funny. I guess it's because it's safe. You know, you can see it, but can't touch it. LOL

That's an easy one! So that you get hungry, go eat, feel guilty, and go back to the gym to start the cycle all over again! It's how they ensure that they stay in business! (not a fact, but sounds reasonable no? LOL)

We recently bought a treadmill and I agree, that 30 minutes seems to last an eternity sometimes. Music really helps though!

P.S. Thanks for playing along :-D
