Arlene tagged me with the Six Weird Things meme a few days ago, but I've been having a really hard time with this post because I think I am a very normal person. I don't have any quirks. I am mildly OCD about organizational things around the house (although Mr. C might argue with me about that), but nothing really stands out about me. After racking my brain, here are the slightly weird things I've come up with. 1) I have been known to put mayonnaise on my tacos. However, I have gotten out of the habit since the rest of the family thinks that's gross. Now I use sour cream instead so that I can be normal. 2) I am a phenomenal lip reader. I don't even have to think about it. If I can't read someone's lips, then sometimes I have no idea what they are saying. While many people read lips just to be nosey, I do it because I cannot hear. Seriously, I have a 50-60% hearing loss in both ears. I've had hearing aids since I was in the fourth grade. Fortunately, I'm so good at lip reading that I don't even wear the hearing aids any more, praise the Lord! When I outgrew my last pair quite a few years ago we never spent the money on new ones. 3) I am extremely left-handed, and the only thing that I knowingly do right-handed is iron. I can't use a fork with my right hand, but I can maneuver a very hot electronic appliance on delicate fabric with it. 4) I can lift my 6'4" husband (who weighs 100 pounds more than me) off of the ground and put him in an airplane spin. That makes me the girl of his dreams. 5) My eyes are magnets for typographical errors. While I know that I make typos on this blog from time to time, I am very obsessive about correct grammar and punctuation in my everyday life. I can't tell you how many books and articles I've read that have typos in them. It drives me nuts! If I had a job outside the home, I think that I would want to be an editor's editor. These people get paid to find mistakes, yet they miss them! 6) I am a romantic pack-rat. You don't know what that means? When I was in the 9th grade and Mr. C was in the 12th grade, I had the biggest crush in the world on him (still do!). I had a tendency to spy on him. One day after school he was putting on a new pair of cleats before ball practice, and I saw him throw the empty shoe box in the garbage can. I unobtrusively tiptoed over to the garbage can and retrieved a small piece of the cardboard box with the shoe size written on it. I wanted a piece of something that belonged to him. I still have that little piece of cardboard almost 17 years later. See, I'm not all that weird! If you haven't shared your oddities yet, consider yourself tagged. Please leave me a comment so that I can visit you and see how normal I really am. :o)

I'm the same way about proof-reading things. I don't mean to but I once had a job as a proof-reader with an accounting firm. I loved it and I guess it has just stuck with me all these years. It is almost a pet peeve with me when I find an error in spelling. Punctuation doesn't seem to bother me as much as you can tell by my own posts...LOL!!

As for the retrieval of a piece of the box from the trash that your "crush" had put in it...I think that is sweet not weird. I can't say that I didn't do things like that when I was younger....cause I did!!

I did this meme on my site a couple of days ago. Mine are really weird compared to yours. But my kids gave me my weird things...I couldn't come up with not one...LOL!!

I'm the same way about spelling errors too. Drives my dh crazy that I see them everywhere! ;)

I wish I could read lips. If someone tries to mouth something to me from across the room, I can't figure out what they're saying. I feel so stupid that I can't figure out basic words like that! LOL

And my dh eats mayo on french fries.

I did this meme too. It was fun.

Number four tells me you have strong upper body strength. Number six says you're a potential stalker. LOL LOL LOL ROFL> JUST KIDDING> But it was funny. :)

Hehehehe

Lurking here, so I'll leave a comment. I am not even sure where I found your blog link but I was cruising and lurking around and here you were!

I may have started with my internet blogging friend in the northwoods and ended up here. Or maybe I started at a knitting blog somewhere and found you. I haven't a clue anymore.

I am a Pastor's wife with three PKs, two grown and gone, and the last one just got his license (eeek). I dwell in the south and probably would need my grown kids to come up with my oddities. I too consider myself quite normal.

But . . . I have to tell you that the thing about your being left and ironing right really hit hard. I am right and iron left. I know the reason. My mom was left and the ironing board sat up in our basement all my growing up years so that is just the way it was. Plus I used to spend a lot of time at the ironing board since my mom paid me to do it. Those were the days when we ironed everything.

Nice to meet you odd one! Becky

LOL< Mrs. C, you have to know that just being "normal" makes you an odd one since pretty much everyone is a weirdo in his/her own right! :P

Number 6 cracked me up; I'm not completely sure why, lol. I just thought it was funny. :P At least your story is sweet, since you did end up marrying Mr. C... now, if you still had a box from some other guy, we might have to worry about you ;o)

I think the only super weird thing was the mayo, LOL, but you've conformed, so I guess you aren't too much of a weirdo at all! :~) I guess my meme made you feel even more normal, huh?

Oops, forgive my punctuation error up there at the beginning :P I am the same way with finding typos in published works. Nathan never notices, and he's always completely uninterested when I point them out to him. Okay, anyway, I'm really done with my comments now! :o)

Sis. Julie,
I think many of us ladies tend to be perfectionists when it comes to grammar and punctuation. It gives us something to fuss about. :)

Susan,
Mayonnaise on French fries is a new one for me! I think I'll stick to ketchup. :)

Kristi,
I think you're pickin' on me! Let me clarify that I just lift him over my shoulder, not over my head. No super-powers here! :)

Becky,
Thanks so much for stopping by! If you have a blog, please leave me a link so that I can visit you. :)

Arlene,
You are too funny! Thanks for tagging me; I enjoyed playing along.

Funny! And I'm impressed with your upper body strength! The last one was the best!

I found your list interesting, not weird!--well except for the mayo on the tacos. And you sound strong!

Oh and I *love* mayo on my french fries but rarely indulge because it's just plain bad for you!
