Food Storage~ WFMW

Not too long ago the meat storage bin in my refrigerator broke. Within a couple of weeks, the vegetable crisper bin broke, too. Our one-year manufacture's warranty had expired, so it was going to cost $ 392.47 to replace the two drawers. Unbelievable!!!! I had to do something to keep the food from perishing, so I measured the space in the fridge and purchased two Rubbermaid boxes with lids. I wasn't sure how well they would work at keeping the food fresh, but I have been very pleased. I think that these containers actually keep the food fresher longer than the orginal bins did. These boxes are very handy. When I need to make a salad, I just take the whole box to the counter and have all of the ingredients I need without make umpteen trips to the fridge. Cleaning the fridge is much easier, too. When you have a yucky mess in the meat drawer, it is such a hassle to get the whole drawer out and smoothly put back in, and it is impossible to fit it into the sink to wash it. With my new storage containers, it is so easy to wash them. They are fairly lightweight, too. So, if your storage bins aren't doing the job, try using storage containers with lids. They work for me!
