Bloggy Giveaways Carnival~Winter '08 Edition
**This post will remain at the top of the page until Saturday. Please scroll down for new posts.**

Photobucket

It's time for another Bloggy Giveaway Carnival hosted by the amazing Shannon.

In the spirit of passing along good reading material, I'm giving away a Christian fiction book entitled Letter Perfect by Cathy Marie Hake. I read this book a while back and enjoyed it. Here's a little bit about the book and author.

Book Description
If her own two feet don't end up tripping her, Ruth Caldwell's mouth is likely to get her into equal trouble. But Ruth has the best of intentions. Truly. It's just that her attempts to live up to her mother's expectations of how a lady should act have often yielded, well, less than impressive results. Josh McCain is speechless when he sees Ruth step off the stage in Folsom, California. Sure, it looks like she's been sleeping in her gown for the past week, but with a crown of riotous curls and those deep green eyes, she's certainly the most beautiful woman he's ever met. But Josh soon finds the sparks that fly upon Ruth's arrival aren't the romantic type. With her legitimate claims to an inheritance, the Broken P Ranch's future is suddenly precarious. And when Ruth's "accidents"-going beyond even her normal bumbling ways-seem to take a sinister turn, Josh must decide where his loyalties lie.

About the Author
CATHY MARIE HAKE is an award-winning author and has written or co-written more than twenty novels. She also works as a nurse and specializes in teaching Lamaze, breastfeeding, and baby care. She makes her home in Anaheim, California, with her husband, daughter, and son.

Personalized Purse Picture
I've entered a few blog contests since I started blogging, but I never really expected to win anything. A couple of weeks ago I entered Jennifer's contest for a personalized purse picture. You can imagine how shocked I was when I found out that I had actually won.

I had a tough decision to make: which one of my four kiddos would be the recipient of a piece of custom artwork??? I knew that Mickey Mouse wouldn't be interested--no pretty stuff for him! The little girls share a room together, so it wouldn't be fair if one had her name on the wall and the other one didn't. Bookworm was the child who really needed some artwork on her walls. Since her room makeover a couple of months ago, we still haven't put anything up! I emailed Jennifer a picture of Bookworm's quilt to give her an idea of the room's color scheme. I had no idea what Jennifer would come up with, but I trusted her abilties. :-)

Just a few days later I received a carefully packed box in the mail. I couldn't wait to see what was inside. A sweet note from Jennifer was the first thing that caught my eye.

Underneath all that bubble wrap was Bookworm's personalized picture. We used one of those Command Hooks from 3M to hang it on her wall. Jennifer painted the canvas and then applied the purse using coordinating scrapbook paper. She added bows and a cute little button as accents.

Now, here's the part that you're not going to believe. Jennifer was able to perfectly coordinate her design with Bookworm's bedding. Are you ready to see the result?

Ta-da!

Is that custom art or what?? It's a little hard to tell in this picture, but there are little flowers on the purse that match the flowers on quilt. The stripes matched perfectly, too! Jennifer did an unbelievable job. She is a very talented artist and has been painting some lovely pictures lately and posting them on her blog. Please take a moment to visit her and let her know what a fabulous job she did on Bookworm's purse picture.

Jennifer, thank you for sharing your talent with our family. Bookworm is thrilled to have something so wonderful on her wall. :-)

Cooking VS. Shopping
The quote on this apron sums up my life in the kitchen: "Born to shop. Forced to cook!"

My two year old keeps saying, "Mommy, you've got shoes and purses on your tummy!"

Although I enjoy cooking and spending time with my kiddos in the kitchen, there are some days I really would rather be scanning the sales racks at the mall, LOL!

This apron was a Christmas present from my dad. When I told him that it was too pretty to wear because I didn't want to mess it up, he told me that I had better wear it because it cost way more than he thought an apron ought to cost. -: I've worn it several times, and it's still stain-free. I don't know how much longer I can keep it that way.

If you're wondering why my pretty little head has been chopped off in the picture, 5 year old Curly Girl was my photographer.

Do you have a favorite apon? Enter it in Barbara's apron contest.
