Spring Cleaning: Day 2

The next room on my spring cleaning list is the dining room, one of the most-used rooms in our home. If we eat at home all week, 126 meals are served in our dining room. One hundred twenty-six!! It's no wonder that this room requires a lot of attention!

I starting working on the dining room a couple of days ago, but I wasn't able to finish everything because we had to travel out of town for my husband to preach at a meeting. Today I finally got the antler chandelier and the windows cleaned, so I can check this room off of my list.

Dining Room Tasks Completed:
vacuum the crown molding
vacuum window treatments (I washed them recently.)
clean blinds
wash walls and baseboards
clean chandelier
dust artwork
wash windows (inside & out)
move baker's rack and wipe it down
declutter baskets on baker's rack (crayons, paper, etc. are stored here)
vacuum seat cushions
polish table and chairs

Here's what the dining room looks like now:

Mrs. B,
When my husband is home, I do my best to not work on any projects around the house. Our men deserve our attention and a peaceful environment. I hope you enjoy your time together. :-)

I just wanted to tell you that I love that rack in your dining room! :) I can't believe you serve 126 meals in a week!!! I'm guessing you're including snacks and such, lol. Anyway, great job on your spring cleaning; I'm impressed and a little inspired :~)

I love your dining room!! I bet it looks this good all the time doesn't it...LOL!! I know...y'all do live in the house so how could it look like that ALL the time...right?

Arlene,
Here's the meal breakdown:
6 people X 3 meals a day X 7 days in a week = 126 meals each week.

Whew! That does sound like a lot, doesn't it! :-)

Sis. Julie,
Other than the crumbs on the floor, this room doesn't get too messy. Bookworm has the blessing of sweeping the floor after every meal. If we do our school lessons at the table, then we have a pile of books to put away, too. :-)

Hello!
I just came across your blog on "Mom's Daily thoughts". :)
Your Dining room is very pretty and I have to agree with Mrs. U that they sing of sunshine. :)
I was wondering what shade of yellow your walls are. I have been wanting to freshen up my dining room and you have a similar idea to what I was thinking.
Blessings,
Karen

Karen,
I'm so glad you stopped by! :-)

The kitchen walls were painted before we moved into our home almost 2 years ago. I'm not sure of the color. :-( I wish that the previous owners had left a paint can behind. "Sunshine" is a very good description. Our front entry way is also yellow, but a different shade. I prefer the brighter shade for the dining room.

You might try picking up some paint chip samples from a vendor in your area. Most paint stores will also give you small sample cans of paint for around $5. It sometimes helps to see the color on your wall.

Please come back again to visit.

Blessings,
Mrs. C

Hello Mrs. C!
I'm back! :) Thank you for the helpful suggestions and such a warm welcome! :)
Once school is done I hope to get to work on freshening up my walls. We have been in our home 8 years and I've been told that it is good to repaint every 5 years or so.
Blessings,
Karen
