God Is Faithful!
No matter what you are facing today, remember that God is faithful! Those around us will let us down and fail us, but God always keeps His word. Isn't that so encouraging?

For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth. ~Psalm 33:4

Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. ~I Thessalonians 5:24

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. ~I Timothy 1:7

God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. ~I Corinthians 1:9

Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. ~Psalm 36:5

Standing on the Promises
lyrics by R.K. Carter
Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain:
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call,
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

Pie for breakfast
The last morning of our vacation we decided to go out to eat for breakfast, which happens to be one of my favorite things to do. I had seen an advertisement in a brochure for a local Amish restaurant, but I couldn't remember the name of it. When I looked up "Amish restaurant Sarasota" on Google, this famous restaurant that has been featured on The Travel Channel popped up instead of the one I was trying to find. My hubby had actually seen Yoder's on Man Vs. Food, and he got all excited when we realized that it was only about five minutes away from our location. We headed that way.

Curly Girl and Lil Nut ordered the kids' pancakes. They were shaped like a famous mouse, which they thought was funny.

Mickey chose the egg croissant sandwich, and he ate the entire thing. It was huge!

Bookworm, who inherited my sweet tooth, chose the apple fritter French toast. Yum!

Steven and I both ordered more traditional fare that included eggs, bacon, fried potatoes, and pancakes. My eggs were smothered in cheese. The blueberry bread was the best ever, so I purchased a loaf to take home.

You would think that we too stuffed to even play with the idea of having dessert with our breakfast, but Yoder's is famous because of its pies. We decided to order three pieces to share among the six of us. The slices of pie were so big, we couldn't even eat it all. From twenty-five pie varieties, we narrowed our choices down to these:
Peanut Butter Cream

Chocolate Cream

Fresh Strawberry

Yep, they tasted even better than they look!

The restaurant is part of a small Amish village designed to entertain tourists like us. We enjoyed browsing in the gift shop and market.

Looking at and talking about all this scrumptious food has made me hungry. Wish I had another piece of Chocolate Cream pie right now!

Return
We're back from a relaxing week at the beach. I feel so refreshed and am very thankful that the Lord gave our family this special time together.

Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. ~ Psalm 68:19
