A random post
I can hardly believe that we're already halfway through the month of January! Just when I think that time can't fly by any faster, it happens anyway. Am I the only one who feels this way? Last week we did a little celebrating at our house. Mickey and my mom share a birthday, so we had a combined party for them. Mickey turned 11 on 1/11/11. I thought that was pretty neat. He didn't ask for much for his birthday, so I was more than happy to get him the cake he wanted: a Carvel ice cream football cake. It was deeeee-licious!I didn't want my mom to feel left out, so she got her very own coconut cake. Mom turned...well...maybe I shouldn't announce her age. She looks younger than her age. That's all I'll say.Mickey is on the middle school basketball team (he's the handsome redhead). Thankfully, his team only plays eight games this season. I'm glad. Fifth graders shouldn't be loaded with extra-curricular activities. The girls love going to the games and cheering him on. Actually, they prefer playing with their friends in the bleachers to watching the game.I've been super busy at school. "Busy" doesn't even begin to describe my workload, but I can't think of a better word without losing the few brain cells I have left. Re-enrollment for next year starts February 1st. Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork! The planning just never ends. We also have a couple of big events coming up next month that involve a lot of details. I'm thankful that I have a terrific staff to help me! That's enough for this update. I'll check in again when I have time to sit down and catch my breath. Have a great week! :)

Day Trip
Last week we took a day trip to North Florida. We ate lunch with my dad and his wife at a delightful little restaurant. My oldest sister, her husband, and my niece joined us. After lunch my sister invited the kids to go to her house for a little while. My sister and her husband own one of the largest and most successful Thoroughbred breeding and training farms in the state. Almost every Triple Crown race has at least one horse in it that was broken at their farm. They have a gorgeous 300 acre training facility. Their house is located on the back of the property. The girls were thrilled to spend some time with their 12 year old cousin. Bookworm loves to ride horses, and my niece has several of her own. They had so much fun riding together. I'm looking forward to taking the kids back for another visit soon. It's so peaceful there! Here are a few pictures I snapped as we drove around the farm. Next time I'll take some pictures of the horses.

A New Year
Happy 2011! I didn't post anything during the Christmas holidays. It was nice to take a break from "everything" and enjoy time with my family. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas as well. Best wishes to you for a very blessed year!
